Support packages are software updates released by SAP that include problem fixes. SAP customers need to install them to ensure the smooth operation, regulatory compliance, and security of their SAP systems. However, support packages also pose a risk, as they may conflict with existing system customizations and disrupt business processes. As a result, implementing support packages require a significant testing effort, to the point that SAP users often defer the installation of support packages to reduce the burden of testing.
